1959
The Humble Beginning (1959)
The institution had its modest start in January 1959 at Nogendranagar, Krishnanagar. Founded by Bishop Louis LaRavoire Morrow, it was initially known as the Mary Immaculate Montessori School. Under the Bishop’s fatherly guidance and the tireless efforts of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI), the school quickly gained a reputation for excellence in early childhood education.
60s
Growth and Expansion (1968–1969)
As the number of students grew, the need for a larger campus became evident.
August 1968
Bishop Morrow established the Young Women’s Cultural Centre (YWCC) at Bejikhali with the intent of hosting a new school.
October 1968
The school moved to its current location, providing more spacious facilities for the children of the region.
November 1969
Upon the Bishop’s retirement, the people of Krishnanagar—in a gesture of profound gratitude for his 30 years of service—requested that the centre be named the Bishop Morrow Centre (BMC) to honour his memory.
20s
Modern Milestones (2002–Present)
2002
In 2002, the institution was officially renamed Bishop Morrow School (BMS) to better reflect its identity as a premier educational establishment.
April 12, 2003
The modern high school building was inaugurated.
2005
The first batch of students appeared for the ICSE (Class X) examinations.
2008
The school received permanent affiliation for the ISC (Class XII), introducing the Science and Arts/ Humanities streams.
2010
The first batch of ISC students successfully completed their board examinations, marking the school's transition into a full-fledged Higher Secondary institution.
